When the movie The Visit first came out me and a couple friends went to go see it in theaters. At first we thought it was going to be weird because it was a documentary, but as the movie went on we realized that it was good. In the movie I didn’t like how it was the kids going to their grandparents so i want to change the relationship and the gender. Also the kids don’t know how to react to their grandmother because she is not acting in a normal way. Grandparents are usually suppose to be loving and theres are not. They will have some type of fear of not being loved by their grandparents. In the movie it is the grandmother that is the one that has some sort or thing wrong with her. Also I want it to be the kids parents instead of grandparents. This adaptation will take place at my house, with my brothers and my parents. I am going to have my older brother be the one that finds out that our “parents” are not our real parents but I’m still going to be there with him. Also the different in age plays a factor because he’s has been with our parents the longest. I am going to have me and him going on some sort of vacation and us finding our real parents and having our “fake parents” be some type of murderer or psycho path.
Annotated Bibliography
“Lindbergh, Reeve. The Visit” *
Two sisters are going to visit there aunt and uncle. Once they are there they find a barn with birds nest, haylofts, roses, and wholesome foods. They get home cooked meals and everything they want. But then suddenly realize they miss their parents. I chose this source because I like the relationship between the girls and the aunt and uncle. “Two sisters' visit to their aunt and uncle's farm” (Lindbergh) I chose this quote because it shows the relationship between the sisters and the aunt and uncle.
“The Visit” *
This source is a story about how a boys dad is never around and how the dad works at some office and is taking care of peoples loans. I thought this was a good source because it focuses on the relationship between a boy and his father. that is something I want to change in the visit. I want the relationship to be between two boys and there parents. The quote I chose is “I hated this couple, not for their money, but for their casual acceptance of their freedom” (Bender) I chose this quote because I think it describes how the grandparents are and how there is no freedom. The boy in this story is always stuck inside because of his father.
“10 Questions Left Unanswered By M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit”
I chose this source because these are questions I can try to answer in my adaptation. Also some parts of The Visit doesn’t make sense and these questions follow up with those parts. These questions are questions everyone has at the end of the movie. “How did the kids not know what they’re grandparents looked like? or how did the grandparents escape a mental hospital without people noticing?” These questions I am going to try to answer in my adaptation.
